
07 Nov Social Media Management for Hickman County Economic and Community Development Association
The Hickman County Economic and Community Development Association came to me with a goal of increasing their following on Facebook and launching an Instagram account. The population of Hickman County, Tennessee is just over 25,000 people and their primary audience is a small subset of that: small business owners, entrepreneurs, and entry-level employees living in Hickman County.
We’re experimenting with a variety of strategies that have grown their Facebook following by 286 followers in 8 months and their Instagram following from 0 to 130 in 4 months.
One of the most successful strategies we’ve found for local businesses or organizations like the Hickman County Economic and Community Development Association has been sharing stories by real, local people and putting a little bit of ad spend to boost the post’s reach (we’re talking $30 to $50 max over the course of an entire month).
This works because:
- People are more likely to react to stories about and images of other people
- Once a person has reacted to a post on Facebook, we can invite them to like our page
- And would you believe it…most DO!
